Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky is more stringently enforcing insurance requirements for drivers. This is good news for all drivers, especially accident victims (the not at-fault parties of car wreck). When a person is involved in a car wreck, they can suffer various injuries, and the damages can range from small to large amounts. Insurance is important in these situations because the insurance is often the only source of recovery for injuries and damages suffered due to the negligence of the at-fault driver.

Kentucky requires drivers to carry a certain minimal amount of automobile insurance coverage in order to operate a motor vehicle. However, the courts are flooded with criminal cases where drivers are cited by police for not having car insurance while driving a vehicle. This means that lots of people are driving cars, potentially causing car crashes, and do not have adequate insurance to pay for damages and injuries they may have caused.

A car has hit a boy in Elizabethtown, Kentucky while the child was riding his bike. The 9 year old boy was riding on Colesburg Road in E-Town when a car driven by a 29 year old man stuck the child. The child was taken to Jewish Hospital and then transferred to Kosair Children’s Hospital for medical care to his head and leg. In cases where bike riders, even children, are hit by cars, there are multiple sources of recovery for injuries and damages suffered by the bike riders. Those sources include the motor vehicle driver’s insurance, the bike riders insurance, and the auto policies of those residing in the household of the injured bike rider. This is important because injuries suffered by bike riders by car drivers can be severe. When injuries are severe, recovery time, pain & suffering, lost wages, and medical bills can become very expensive. The more insurance dollars available, the better off the injured person will be.

Salyersville, Kentucky, which is in Magoffin County in Eastern, Kentucky, has experienced another fatal auto accident. The car crash happened on U.S. 460 in Magoffin County. Kentucky State Police have reported that Trenton Tackett was driving a Subaru Outback when he crossed the center line of the road and crashed head on into a motor vehicle driven by Anita Back, of Seitz, Kentucky. Ms. Back was driving a Chevy pickup and was killed in the collision. This is a potential Kentucky wrongful death case.

This tragic auto accident appears to be clearly the fault of Tackett. Even so, it is import to have a thorough investigation of what exactly happened and why. A thorough investigation could reveal additional factors such as cell phone use or texting, and could also point to other parties bearing some fault in an indirect way for this loss of life.

Persons killed in auto accidents often leave loved ones suffering and may leave behind family members who depended upon them for support and household income. In such cases, the family of the deceased can establish an Estate which seeks justice from the at fault parties. The Estate can seek damages for medical bills, funeral bills, lost income of the deceased, and potentially pain & suffering. In cases of a death, the damages can be calculated in very large amounts because of the lifetime of lost income and earning potential. Because the personal injury and wrong death dames cane be so high, it is important to have someone knowledgeable about insurance laws so that every source of recovery is examined, including the insurance policies of the deceased. These sources of recovery can afford financial justice for the loved ones who must pick up the pieces from tragedies like this and move forward with their lives.
